So for the longest time I’ve been faced with one of the most frustrating stereotypes, that Irish people don’t drink wine. I’m Irish, so by default I need to like either Guinness or whiskey, or both, and that’s it. Now I’ve come across a research that suggests otherwise and I have to say that I’m very happy that the fine folks over at the IrishCentral.com have decided to do this to me very important research.
Crushing the stereotypes – wine second most popular drink in Ireland
So if you want to dive straight into it, here’s a link to the research by the Irish Central that talks about what do the Irish drink. All the juicy data can be found inside the article there, but the most important thing that you need to know that wine is the second most popular alcoholic drink in Ireland.
Beer of course comes in at first place, no wonder, and you can’t really drink whiskey like you would drink wine, so it makes sense that wine is so popular. But no one believes me when I tell them that there exist Irish people who like wine. We don’t have a lot of wineries, and most of the wine is imported, but dammit we do drink it.
